Population for Annual Enterprise Survey 2016

The population for the AES 2016 financial year was 463,945 units, consisting of:

• 353,697 (76.2 percent) sourced from IR10 information
• 17,838 (3.9 percent) sourced from the postal survey
• 1,481 (0.3 percent) not-for-profit units sourced from Charities Services
• 90,929 (19.6 percent) non-sample units.

In the AES 2016, we weighted the postal survey unit responses to represent the non-sample units. The corporate response rate required for the postal collection is set at 85 percent of the industry's goods and services tax (GST) sales. The response rate in 2016 was 90 percent.
