Description

Is an election that takes place after the dissolution or expiration of Parliament and in which all members of a given political body are up for election. The term is usually used to refer to elections held for a nation's primary legislative body, as opposed to local government elections. Eligible voters have the opportunity to vote into parliament who they want to represent them. These members of parliament in turn represent the people's/voters' views in parliament. The general elections are held at least every three years and gives people over 18 who have enrolled as a voter the opportunity to have a saw about how the country is run. For example how much tax we should pay, what government does with our money to pay for instance on health care, education, income support etc.
