Description
A birth registered more than two years after it occurred. Section 16 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995 (Section 14 of the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1951) states that no birth can be registered after two years without the approval of the Registrar-General.
Birth statistics and derived birth rates released by Stats NZ generally exclude late registrations.
