Data Collection
IDI national non-admitted patient collection
Methodology
Methodology
Type of data: Administrative data capture
Data collector: National collections and reporting, MOH
Mode of data collection: The NNPAC data is sourced from DHBs’ various management systems for non-admitted events.
Frequency of data collection: Monthly
Quality information
Other quality issues: NNPAC does not include information on diagnosis or procedures. All attributes (for example, ethnicity, gender and geographic information) are stored as they were at the time of the transaction, that is, they do not reflect current values, unless explicitly stated.
Privacy, security, or confidentiality issues
The national non-admitted patient collection tables that are accessible to researchers do not contain any name or address information to identify an individual. All researchers who have access to the national non-admitted patient collection data have had their research proposals assessed using Statistics NZ’s microdata access protocols and only approved researchers who have been granted access by Statistics NZ and the Ministry of Health may view the national non-admitted patient collection data. Read Statistics NZ’s microdata access protocols. All outputs produced from national non-admitted patient collection data must be aggregated and counts suppressed if the underlying unrounded count is fewer than 6.
