Description

Permanent business number. Created as part of the LBF process to allow the longitudinal linking of business locations. The variable is used to identify the enterprise births ('birth_ind') and enterprise deaths ('death_ind') (and continuation indicators), and also to calculate survival rates. 10-character code, consisting of 'PB' prefix, followed by a unique 8-digit number. This is a Statistics New Zealand generated construct for a geographically located business unit.
