Description

Imputation is the process of replacing missing data and residuals with estimated values through statistical methods. For the 2018 Census, we used item imputation which replaces values for variables. The methods for finding replacement values used donor imputation. Donor imputation finds similar respondents with a valid response to the variable that needs replacing and chooses a donor to take the value from. The Canadian Census Edit and Imputation System (CANCEIS) developed by Statistics Canada was used to implement donor imputation.
