Variable Description
A summary fact of the single major chronological track fact (OV_MAJOR_PERIODS) rolled up to the major management category level. In this variable, repeated periods are consolidated and attributed with the leading events. Major management periods roll up all of the major periods to show consistent periods. For example, if there are back-to-back periods of remand or community work, these are shown as a single major management period.
The major management periods are managed in the following ways: Prison: PRISON (prison sentenced) REMAND (remanded in custody)
Home: HD_REL (released to home detention) HD_SENT (home detention sentenced)
Community: ESO (extended supervision order) PAROLE (paroled) ROC (released with conditions) PDC (post detention conditions) INT_SUPER (intensive supervision) COM_DET (community detention) SUPER (supervision) CW (community work) PERIODIC (periodic detention) COM_PROG (community programme) COM_SERV (community service) OTH_COM (other community)
Other: ERROR (period code not properly handled) ALIVE (not managed by corrections) AGED_OUT (deceased, deported, or over 90yo) NA (not applicable)
This fact is particularly useful for previous/next category analysis. A number of cumulative attributes are pre-calculated, such as last sanctioned period.
