Variable Description

Name
[nzta_mvr_gross_vehicle_mass_nbr] en-NZ
Description

Gross vehicle mass means either: (a) the maximum permitted mass of the vehicle, which includes the mass of the accessories, the crew, the passengers and load, and is, unless (b) applies, the gross vehicle mass specified (subsequent to the latest modification, if any) by the manufacturer of the vehicle; or (b) if a person approved for the purpose by NZTA determines that the gross vehicle mass should differ from that specified by the manufacturer, taking into account evidence on the capability of the systems and components of the vehicle, or the effects of any modification, that mass determined by that person. For used light vehicles, a figure from the previous registration or deregistration documents, or from the vehicle manufacturer’s data, may be used. For used light vehicles where previous registration documents indicate the GVM may exceed 3,500 kg, an official New Zealand chassis rating must be obtained.
