Description
Ethnicity is person's present day ethnic affiliation, i.e., the ethnic group/s that they identify with or feel they belong to. It is a measure of cultural affiliation. Ethnicity is different from ethnic origin which is a person's historical relationship to an ethnic group. It is different from race which is a biological indicator and an ascribed attribute. It is also different from ancestry which is a biological and historical concept referring to a person's blood descent. Ethnicity is also different from nationality which is a person's legal status as a citizen of a particular country.
