Description

Periods are the periods of time the offender or offender identity track spends in contact with Corrections. These periods of remand, prison, community detention, parole etc. Periods are multiple tracks of chronological periods with start/end events that relate to the individual track of an offender’s interaction with Corrections. Tracks are constructed independently. A track can be any of the following: • An offender identity keeping track of birth, deportation and death events. An offender can only have one identity track. • An aggregate sentence • A board order • A remand warrant Periods from different tracks overlap in this fact table. This allows for analysis on concurrency of management directives, such as concurrent aggregate sentences.

This particular variable shows a number sequence starting from 1 for the earliest period through to the latest. The number reflects the order of periods in time. Each period of time measured within this variable reflects an event as defined above. The periods show when the offender identity track was managed by Corrections. This is the total number of individual periods.
