Description
A yes/no indicator of whether the unit is economically significant. This is used to indicate eligibility for survey selection. This is maintained, automatically, by IRD processes. It is birthed as economically significant if it has an annual GST turnover of over $30,000. If it later falls below $25,000 then it is set to no. Conversely, if it rises over $35,000 it is set to yes. This tolerance of $5,000 is to stop the indicator from changing too frequently. The value is set to $30,000 as that is the level that is set for compulsory IRD GST registration. There are cases where GST turnover can be lower, and the unit still significant.
