IDI Student Loans & Allowances data (SLA)

The Student Loans and Allowances Integrated Dataset (SLA) data documents the content of the Student Loans and Student Allowances tables that IR provides to Stats NZ to use in the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI). The SLA datasets contain derived administrative data collected from 1992 (Student loans and allowances IR). The CDE is comprised of a series of student loan specific data items sourced from IR and forwarded to Statistics NZ for further analysis. The extract is undertaken by IR on an annual basis. The student loan integrated dataset process has been in place since 2002. The consolidated data extract consists of 22 separate data files.

The Student Loans and Allowances Integrated Dataset (SLA) data documents the content of the Student Loans and Student Allowances tables that MOE provides to Stats NZ to use in the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI). The SLA datasets contain derived administrative data collected from 1999 (Student Allowances MOE), 2000 (Student Loans MOE), 2004 (Scholarships MOE) for eligible students who apply for and received financial support, including student loan borrowers and allowance recipients under the MOE schemes. The Student loans and allowances data contains data provided by applicants, their education provider(s), the Tertiary Education Commission (approved study programmes or qualifications), the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (Top Scholar Awards), and the Ministry of Education (TeachNZ Scholarships) that StudyLink uses to assess eligibility and entitlement to student allowances, student loans and scholarships.
