Description

A census response is defined in two ways – as response to the census (unit response) and response to a question (item response):

  • Unit response: is when an individual returned an individual form or was listed on a household listing, but no individual form was received. To be counted as a response, valid values were required for two out of three of the fields: name, date of birth, and meshblock. A unit response is also when a household returns a dwelling form or a household set-up form.
  • Item response: is when a valid value has been given to a question that applies to the individual (on the individual form) or household (on the dwelling form/household setup form).
