Date of event end

The date on which the event ended.

Notes: This is a data/time field in the datamart, but only the date is provided in this extract. For emergency department (ED) events this field records the change in administrative status. For ED healthcare users with an NMDS event recorded, this is the date the NMDS event is assumed to have commenced. For all other healthcare users this is the same as date of departure. This variable was introduced as date of event end in 2008 to record where an ED event went past midnight. It was replaced with datetime of event end in 2010 to be consistent with other datetime field changes. Other datetimes now collected on ED events supersede the need to collect this date. This field recorded a change in a healthcare user's administrative status rather than a change in physical location. It was used as follows:

• For all events that had an NMDS event recorded, ED event end datetime was the date time that the NMDS event was assumed to have commenced. This may not have been the same as the datetime of departure from ED.
• For all other healthcare users the ED event end datetime was the same as the datetime of departure from ED.

This field was retired on 30 June 2011. Since 1 July 2011 it has automatically been populated with 31/12/9999 23:59
