Imputation
Due to being unavailable at the time of price collection, on average 0.7 percent of prices (not including seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables) are imputed in a typical month – by carrying forward the previous month’s price.
For the fifth week of this month, we also imputed fresh fruit and vegetable price movements for the following regional pricing centres: Auckland (half of the sampled outlets) – from the remainder of Auckland Whangarei – from Hamilton Napier-Hastings – from Tauranga Palmerston North – from New Plymouth Christchurch – from Nelson Dunedin – from Nelson Invercargill – from Nelson.
We did not receive fresh fruit and vegetable prices for the above regional pricing centres in the fifth week of this month, due to industrial action by some price collectors.
