Ownership of dwelling is the key variable used in the derivation of tenure of household. --

Variable name: Ownership of dwelling Definition: Response to question 'Do you, or anyone else who lives here own, or partly own this dwelling?' Ownership of dwelling is the key variable used in the derivation of tenure of household. Questionnaire: Dwelling form question 9 Subject population: Private Occupied Dwellings. Non-response: 3.6% of dwellings did not respond to this question. Quality level: This variable does not have a quality level associated with it. It is used in the derivation of tenure. Comparability with previous census data: The position of the question and the wording of the question has changed from that in 1996. The question is now after the mortgage question. The question no longer mentions owning with or without a mortgage. Things to be aware of: The response to this question feeds into the 'owning...', 'renting...' or residual category allocated through the tenure of household derivation.
