Age (of livestock)

Description

Established by dentition, that is the number of permanent teeth (incisors). Cattle at around 18 months old have two permanent teeth, around 2.5 years four teeth, 3.5 years six teeth and at four and older have eight teeth. Sheep get their first two permanent teeth at about 14 months of age. They become 4-tooths between the ages of two or three years, six tooths between three and four years, and have a full mouth, complete set of eight teeth at four years
