Crown Research Institute Statistics

Abstract

This annual release provides provisional financial results of the seven Crown Research Institutes (CRIs). The activities of these institutes, which are in a number of different industries, are mainly focused on research and new product development.

Purpose

The purpose of the Crown Research Institute (CRI) statistics is to collect financial information about their income and expenditure, as well as data relating to their assets and liabilities. The Crown Research Institute Statistics has collected information about the economic activity of the CRIs since their establishment on 1 July 1992.

Industrial Research Limited (ceased to be a Crown research institute on 31 January 2013)

The 2013 information release was the last we published in this format. As of 2014, our statistics on Crown research institutes are published only as tables in Infoshare.

The New Zealand Institute for Crop and Food Research Ltd and the Horticulture and Food Research Institute of New Zealand Ltd merged on 1 December 2008 to form the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Limited.
