Pacific Peoples

Description

People who identify with a Pacific ethnicity (eg Samoan, Tongan, Fijian) with or without other ethnicities.

Because ethnicity is self-perceived, people can identify with a Pacific ethnicity even though they are not descended from a Pacific ancestor. Conversely, people may choose to not identify with a Pacific ethnicity even though they are descended from a Pacific ancestor. Ethnicity is not the same as birthplace.
